Catholic church ordains married man

BERLIN – A married father of two was ordained as a priest by the Catholic Church in Germany on Tuesday after receiving an exemption to priestly celibacy from Pope Benedict XVI.

Harm Klueting, a theologian and former Protestant pastor, will not have to adhere to the Church’s celibacy law for the duration of his marriage, the diocese of Cologne said.

The case sheds light on a little-known 60-year-old Roman Catholic church law that allows ordained clergy from other Christian faiths to become priests.

“This happens seldom but it’s not unusual,” diocese spokesman Christoph Heckeley said, adding that it is more usual in Scandinavia.

The 61-year-old converted to Catholicism in 2004 after which he served as a deacon and taught religious history at universities in Germany and Switzerland. He currently teaches at the University of Cologne where he will also serve as a priest.

Last year a married father of four was ordained as a priest in Regensburg, southern Germany.

Who is Tagaytay Lodge’s next DDGM?

The question is plain and simple, just put your nomination on the comment and maybe tell your reasons.
After the nomination, we will create a net poll for this.

VW GIL vs. VW AMBOY

Rumours have it that VW Gil Toledo is running for Vice-Mayor of Silang vs. former Vice Mayor VW Amboy Velazco, the present Provincial Administrator.

The brethren of 165 are just hopeful that if this will ever happen, this event will not change the spirit of brotherhood in our Lodge.  The aforesaid brothers are among the most active personalities and pillars of our Lodge.   Their example shall be emulated by the new breeds.

Silang politics though has been entirely different from Tagaytay as we have experiences that the brotherhood is not forgotten after the elections.  In Tagaytay, that will be a different story.  Some who have run and lost also lost their faith in the fraternity.   That is indeed so sad as they have forgotten that the fraternity does not care about politics and religion.   We are freemasons who are given free choices.

What happened to VW Ver Sarmiento

VWB Virgilio Sarmiento honestly admitted that he is now a member of IGLPI. This issue is now being tackled by the Committee on Jurisprudence for appropriate recommendation to the Worshipful Master.

Save this picture taken last April 19 2008, this might be his last entry in the regular stated meeting.

I hope the Grand Lodge will extend brotherly love to VW Ver.
